Funding announced for Upper Skeena Recreation Centre in Hazelton

The province has announced funding for the Upper Skeena Recreation Centre in Hazelton.

The BC and federal governments will provide $12-million, while local fundraising will add another $4-million to the $15-million project.

The chair of the Heart of Hazeltons fundraising committee Doctor Peter Newbery says residents are excited about the announcement.

Doctor Newbery says it should be completed in about two years.

The 5,050 square-metre facility will have an ice surface, seating for 500 people, a fitness room, gym and community space.
