A lawyer for former Vancouver Olympics CEO John Furlong wants a judge to dismiss a sex abuse suit against his client and award special costs.
During the first day of trial, lawyer Bill Smart told the judge that the case put forward by the claimant is based on a series of lies.
The plaintiff, a Prince Rupert resident, was not present in the courtroom this morning. A judge ruled last week that the man could not participate in the trial by phone.
In February, a judge threw out a separate sexual abuse claim by Grace West following the withdrawal of a lawsuit by Beverly Abraham in December.
Furlong has vehemently denied the abuse claims related to his time at a Roman Catholic Church school in Burns Lake beginning in the late 1960s.
