A Kamloops jury has learned that 16-year-old Terrace area girl found murdered in December 2012 was pregnant at the time she died.
Damien Taylor is accused of the second-degree murder of his girlfriend, CJ Fowler of Gitanmaax.
In her opening statement, Crown prosecutor Alex Janse told the jury that Fowler and Taylor were at Royal Inland Hospital in the early morning hours of December 5th when the teenager found out she was pregnant. Both had traveled to Kamloops from Terrace to visit friends.
Janse told the court that hospital workers will testify that they overheard the couple arguing before they left the hospital.
Fowler’s body was discovered later that day in a creek by someone out walking their dog.
Janse said the teen’s head and neck had been crushed by a concrete block.
