Kitimat RCMP are asking hikers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts to have a travel plan before they head out into the woods.
The reminder comes after a father and son were reported overdue late Monday night from a bear hunting trip
Constable Rebekah Draht says the man’s wife did the right thing by calling the police, but RCMP had no idea where to start looking because nobody knew where they were planning to go. She says police can’t mobilize search and rescue without a general location.
Draht says the most important part of a travel plan is to let friends or family know where you are going.
In this case, RCMP says the father and son managed to make contact Tuesday morning and were able to return safely.
Investigators aren’t sure what caused the hunters to become delayed as they hadn’t yet spoken with them.
