The BC Liberals want to know where the provincial government stands on fish farms.
Skeena MLA Ellis Ross called on the province to support the controversial aquaculture industry after the NDP’s recent meetings with First Nations leaders in Alert Bay.
Premier John Horgan says he and his minister met with a number of different leaders during the trip.
Ross notes that it’s only elected First Nations leaders that have to deal with issues like poverty. He says if the government wants to end First Nations poverty, it needs to support industry like aquaculture and LNG.
After last week’s meetings, Horgan said he heard the concerns about aquaculture’s effect on wild salmon but would not commit to removing fish farms.
