An environmental assessment certificate has been issued for the Red Mountain Underground Gold Project.
Following consultations with the Nisga’a Lisims Government, and a review from the Environmental Assessment Office, the government has decided to award the certificate to IDM Mining Limited.
The 147 hectare underground gold and silver mine is located 18 kms northeast of the District of Stewart, in the Nass Wildlife Area.
38 separate conditions are listed as part of the agreement, which include consultations with the Nisga’a Nation, wildlife assessments, and community impact monitoring.
The mine is expected to extract 365 thousand tonnes of ore per year and, if constructed, is expected to add 103 jobs during construction and 33 permanent positions.
