Critics are pulling the NDP government’s lack of action with regards to the salmon harvest under the microscope.
Election promises made nearly a year ago said the government would be implementing recommendations from the Cohen Commission to protect wild salmon and minimize disease risks.
With the recent cancellation of recreational salmon farming, Green MLA Adam Olsen is tired of just words.
According to Olsen, who released a report on the industry last week, the government needs to be enacting changes immediately to protect BC’s culture, economy, and environment.
Removing harmful fish farms, of which 22 are up for renewal next month, is the first step in writing the ship according to Olsen, and the Cohen Commission.
