A group in the Cariboo region is using an online contest to recruit new family doctors.
The Central Interior Rural Division of Family Practice started a campaign, Tick Tock Find Us A Doc, to bring doctors to Williams Lake and 100 Miles House area.
The heavily community involved process interacts through a Facebook page and are given a chances to win prizes for referring a person who’s qualified to practice in British Columbia.
Project Manager Jill Zimonick says the community’s participation is important because they may know someone who would fit in and like to practice in the area.
Zimonick says the contest is now in its third week and with referrals already submitted.
The contest will be open until March and the doctors who are seriously interested in moving to the Cariboo region will then go through an interview process that is expected to take another few months.
Zimonick says the process will allow them find new doctors before the current physicians retire.
