More than two dozen groups are joining two First Nations to voice their opposition to a proposed copper and gold mine near Kamloops.
The Tk’emlups and Skeetchestn Indian bands declared their opposition to the KGHM owned Ajax mine last month, saying they do not consent to the project being built on their sacred territories. Now 31 groups, including the David Suzuki Foundation and the Wilderness Committee, have signed a declaration saying they will support the First Nations in their fight against the mine.
Opponents of the project have raised concerns about dust, air quality, and the water supply.
