The fire located near the Gustafsen North Forest Service Road west of 100 Mile House is now estimated to be 3,200 hectares in size and growing. Smoke being generated by the fire is making it difficult to estimate its exact size.
This fire is expected to grow substantially in the next hours and the amount of growth is dependent on weather and wind conditions. Calmer winds today are assisting control efforts and the 100 Mile House Fire Department is also on site. The area is very smokey, people are urged to head up to Prince George or to the Lower Mainland if wanting to leave the area.
RCMP has restricted access to the nearby area for public safety.
The BC Wildfire Service is urging the public to exercise caution on the roads and to stay away from the fire area, in the interest of both public and worker safety.
