The provincial government is urging everyone on Haida Gwaii to limit water usage.
The forests ministry says Haida Gwaii is experiencing level 3 drought conditions and officials expect stream and groundwater levels to keep dropping.
Under level 3 drought conditions, municipal, agricultural, and industrial users are asked to voluntarily cut water use by 30 percent.
The ministry says further reductions in stream, lake, and aquifer levels could lead to water shortages affecting people, agriculture, industry, and fish stocks.
Staff are monitoring river and well levels and may upgrade the drought level if weather continues to have a negative effect on stream flows and water supply.
