The Prince Rupert area deer that attracted international attention after he got a purple hammock stuck on his antler has been freed of the furniture that made him famous.
Zane Testawich of the BC Conservation Officer Service says COs managed to track down and tranquilize Hammy earlier on Thursday.
Although Hammy’s hammock may be gone, the Conservation Officer Service does need to keep track of animals that they tranquilize.
Testawich says officers in this case found a creative way to do that with Hammy.
Rupert residents have been following the exploits of Hammy the buck and his purple hammock hat since August both in person and through his Facebook Page.
