A missing Kitwanga man has been found after he had gone missing while mushroom picking in the Yukon.
55-year-old Darrell Russell went missing on June 4th while picking with a group in the Barney Lake area.
Watson Lake RCMP say Russell emerged from the bush this afternoon.
Police say Russell told them he lit fires each night and could hear the search helicopters, but wasn’t able to see them.
Information on his condition is pending, and he’ll be assessed at a local hospital.
Police say during their search for Russell, they also found two other mushroom pickers who got lost, but had yet been reported missing.
They also want to remind people who go out into the wilderness to be prepared, and have the proper gear, including; a compass, GPS, map of the area, bear spray and other safety measures.
