Hazelton group “bridging the gap” on violence against women and girls

The Hazelton Violence in Relationships Committee is trying to raise awareness about violence against women and girls.

Committee members were at the Hagwilget Bridge Wednesday afternoon handing out cookies and information pamphlets to people about help and services available to those in crisis.

Coordinator Anissa Watson says the VIR Committee hopes to “bridge the communication gap” around domestic violence from being taboo to a subject that is discussed openly and respectfully.

The VIR Committee is made up of community members and organizations in the Hazeltons working toward a vision of a violence free community.
