Users of the former Ken Trombley Arena in the Hazeltons got some much needed good news Wednesday.
Hazelton figure skating coach Stacey Brown says she was shocked to hear that they won $100,000 for their Aviva Community Fund application.
Brown says $65,000 of the Aviva funds will be used to buy a Zamboni for the rink.
The outdoor rink will remain roofless for the season, but $20,000 of the funding will go towards a roof and the remaining $15,000 will provide three months of operating funds from January to March.
The arena was condemned in March after an inspection revealed that beams and trusses were insufficient to support the roof.
