The head of the B.C. Non-Profit Housing Association is in Terrace today holding a regional event.
Tony Roy is the association’s Executive Director, and he says the conference will bring together housing providers and other stakeholders to shine a light on the acute need for affordable housing in the northwest.
He says it’s also an opportunity for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
While government spends money on issues surrounding homelessness, Roy says there’s no funding to tackle the core issue of housing.
He says that if the government won’t step up, then they should be supporting non-profits that do.
He says this year, being a federal election year, is an excellent opportunity to raise the issue at a level where the largest impact can be made.
The B.C. Non-Profit Housing Association represents the non-profit housing sector throughout the province.
