Environment Canada has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the North Coast and Kitimat tonight.
Forecasters say a significant storm is moving into the area bringing with it heavy rain and strong wind.
Officials say the storm will track over the Alaskan Panhandle Saturday evening. As the storm moves inland, the associated cold front will slowly proceed over the Central Coast tomorrow morning.
Rainfall is expected to intensify overnight and ease late tomorrow morning. Rainfall amounts around 40 to 60 mm are expected at Kitimat by Sunday afternoon.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Heavy downpours a month ago caused the Kitimat River to flood its banks, stranding 14 campers.
