The BC government is expanding heli-logging operations near Williams Lake to counter the spread of Douglas fir beetles.
The forests ministry says logging has moved to an area south of the city in the Chimney Valley area west of Dog Creek Road along Chimney Creek. Residents can expect to helicopters in the area by Wednesday or Thursday.
Officials say Douglas fir beetle populations are higher than usual in parts of the Cariboo.
The insects, which normally attack small stands of trees, can weaken and kill a tree within a year.
