High avalanche risk closes highways

High avalanche risk has closed some sections of northwest BC highway.

Highway 37A is closed from Stewart to Meziadin Junction because of an increased slide risk.

The transportation ministry says avalanche control work is scheduled for 9 am Tuesday weather permitting, but officials can’t say when the highway might reopen.

Highway 37 is also closed from Bell 2 Bridge to Bob Quinn Lake Maintenance Contractor Yard because of a high avalanche hazard.
