The Ministry of Transportation has shut down Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert due to the high avalanche hazard.
The route is closed in both directions 13 km east of Prince Rupert to 35 km west of Terrace.
There are no detours available.
Officials say an assessment is in progress and an update will be provided later Wednesday.
