Highway 16 transit service launching from Terrace to Hazelton

Route 164 between Kispiox and Terrace will make round trips on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the standard rate is $5 per rider and $4 for students and seniors.

Once the services start, the busses will be available 3 days per week between communities from Prince George to Terrace.

MLA Jennifer Rice says this new bus route is taking a step in the right direction for the highway of tears.

Rice adds this will be for everyone but it’ll be helpful for women and girls who need a ride as well.

The BC Government has committed to five years of transit funding, through the 6.4 million action plan.

The cost of the busses along these routes is fully covered, the government is funding 2 thirds of the operating costs. Local governments and First Nations partners are working together to share funding for their one-third share of the operating costs.
