Agressive fire behaviour by the Hanceville wildfire has forced officials to shut down a section of Highway 20.
The route between the Fraser River and the Alex Graham/600 Road will be closed in both directions to enhance public safety and let fire personnel and equipment move through the area more quickly.
The Farwell Canyon Road is also closed for the time being.
The Hanceville, being driving by strong, gusty wind, fire covers 179,768 hectares, is exhibiting aggressive Rank 5 and Rank 6 fire behaviour.
