Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Claire Trevena announced a $1.98-million plan to improve the reliability of Highway 37.
The work will happen on a culvert north of Bell 2 Lodge. The 44-year-old, undersized steel pipe culvert under the highway at Gamma Creek currently one gets clogged with debris flows and will be replaced with a new concrete box culvert.
“In northwestern B.C., Highway 37 is an important lifeline that connects communities, and this culvert work will help ensure the highway’s reliability,” said Trevena.
The culvert is located 35 kms north of the Bell 2 Lodge and 130 km north of the Meziadin Junction. Work is scheduled to start late Septemeber and be completed by May 2018. The government is now looking to reinforce the bands of the Ningunsaw River as well.
During that time there will be single lane alternating traffic. The government is looking to reinforce the bands of the Ningunsaw River as well.
