The Highway of Tears documentary will be screened in Terrace tomorrow.
The documentary tells the stories of the girls and women who went missing or were murdered along the infamous highway.
Matt Smiley is the director of the film.
He says the film not only humanizes the women, who are often given labels such as “high risk,” but also lets the families know they’re not alone.
He encourages people to attend the screening tomorrow at 7pm at the REM Lee theatre.
Smiley says he doesn’t want people to turn away because of costs, so there are tickets available for those who can’t afford a full-price ticket.
Doug Leslie is the father of Loren Leslie, she was a victim of Cody Legebokoff.
He hopes the film will change the public’s perception of these women and spur action.
There will be a Q&A after the film for those who want to learn more.
