Holy Cotton Candy, Batman!

Many of you know I work at Tim Hortons on Keith Avenue.  I joke around that’s my “grown-up” job.  Well, Wednesday was Tim Hortons Camp Day and our store bought 300 bags of cotton candy in a dozen flavours as a fundraiser.  We didn’t get rid of all the cotton candy, having maybe 100 bags left.  Yesterday, about 5 minutes before our delivery truck was due to arrive, my boss came up to me and asked if I might know of anyone who might want some bags.  I told her I might be able to get rid of a few….next thing I know ALL bags of cotton candy are being loaded in my SUV.  I spent the afternoon wondering what the heck I was going to do with 100 bags of candy floss?????

By 5pm, I had an idea…..because many fundraisers I knew of were happening outside the shelf life of this cotton candy, I decided to sell it using FB and give buyers an option to support their choice of 3 charities; Leah’s Fight Against Cancer, Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation, and Flame of Hope for Fort McMurray.  I never imagined the idea would be as popular as it was….I literally sold all bags by noon today and made $176.00 to be split up between the 3 charities.  Never will I underestimate the power of social media and the popularity of cotton candy.  Thanks to everyone who supported this quick, spontaneous fundraiser!!!  I even had someone buy 33 bags for a birthday party!  That’s why I love this community…everyone supports each other!  I couldn’t ask for a better place to raise my family.

Thanks again if you spread the word, bought candy, or just sent me positive vibes…I really appreciate your support 🙂
