B.C.’s new Premier has announced another four appointments to tackle hydro rates, auto insurance costs and housing affordability.
“For 16 years under the Liberal government, ordinary people struggled to get ahead – nowhere have they seen that more than in out-of-control housing and Hydro costs. We’re tackling affordability and getting government working for people again, starting with Crown corporations and government organizations,” said Horgan in a release.
BC Hydro has a new chair with Kennith G. Peterson appointed. For the last 10 years Peterson has been the CEO of Powerex, a marketing and training subsidiary of BC Hydro.
Casse Doyle, former CEO of the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute has been appointed chair of the BC Housing Management Commission.
Former Minister of Health, Minister of Finance and Deputy Premier Joy MacPhail has been appointed chair of ICBC.
And lastly, Cathy McLay was appointed director of ICBC.
Horgan says these people have a long track record of delivering effective leadership that benefits the public and they will work hard to ensure their organizations are making life more affordable for British Columbians.
