The British Columbia Economic Development Association and Fortis BC have launched a hotline to help businesses who are returning to evacuated areas.
Chris Duffy from Emergency Management BC says the line will help businesses get back on their feet
“The BC Economic Development Association and Fortis, with that hotline, are there to help businesses get back on their feet following the devastating fires and impacts from them,” said Duffy in a BC Wildfire update.
The hotline was created as part of the BCEDA Economic Disaster Recovery Program. The company is also planning to send Economic Recovery Teams to communities once the residents and businesses are allowed to return to communities. They are currently looking for more volunteers to be part of these teams.
The number for the hotline is 1-877-422-EDRP (3377). The hotline will be open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will run for the first two weeks after evacuation orders are rescinded, but may be extended if needed.
