Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Selina Robinson was in Terrace to break ground on 52 new supportive housing units this morning, and the focus was on support services.
Robinson says that particular care went in to ensuring that the units will meet the specific needs of a northern rural community, specifically in the winter.
Terrace is one of 22 communities selected for the program, and the goal is to have the units on Olsen Avenue completed by the winter.
The site will be operated by the Ksan Housing Society.
Additional Housing Projects
Robinson also announced an expansion to the government’s supportive housing program.
The Minister spoke on the success of the program thus far, and says that the government has committed to a further 2,500 supportive housing facilities.
The government is already in the process of building 2,000 facilities across 22 communities in BC.
