Two Northern BC women are facing animal cruelty charges after an SPCA investigation.
In August, SPCA constables seized 18 horses, 18 dogs, 15 birds, two cats, and 104 fish in various states of distress from a property east of Houston.
Constable Debbie Goodine says half of the horses were suffering from severe malnutrition and were in distress due to unsanitary living conditions.
Goodine says the other animals were also found to be in unsafe and substandard living conditions and were suffering from serious medical and dental issues.
Karin and Catherine Adams are charged with animal cruelty under both the Criminal Code and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
They are scheduled to appear in Houston court March 16th.
The animals have since received extensive veterinary care and have been rehomed.
