Dozens of photographers gathered along the bank of the Adams River near Kamloops this weekend to watch the return of hundreds of sockeye salmon.
2018 is a peak return year in the 4 year cycle for the salmon, as the DFO forecasts over 14 million of the fish to return to the Fraser River.
Despite contention from salmon experts that say the actual return could be as low so 6 million, the DFO claims that 10.5 million have already been accounted for.
Pacific Region Salmon Director Jennifer Nener says that while there were concerns over the overall number of salmon returning, the numbers have been “pretty good” thus far.
