BC Hydro says geotechnical assessments are continuing after a pair of landslides took out Prince Rupert’s main electrical transmission line.
Community Relations Coordinator Dave Mosure says slides wiped out five towers along the 287 kilo-volt mainline and another tower along a smaller 69 kilo-volt transmission line Monday.
The incident left thousands of customers in the dark for a couple of hours Monday afternoon.
Mosure says residential and small business customers are being fully supplied with power through the Prince Rupert Gas turbine.
Industrial customers are at 50 percent capacity right now.
Hydro says repairs to the remotely located towers will begin once surveys determine the area is stable enough.
