Those traversing forest service and resource roads on Haida Gwaii will soon benefit from improved communication.
A new provincial project will add safety for forest workers and other drivers by standardizing two way radio communications in the Resource District.
New signs will be posted along applicable roads indicating which frequency to communicate on, along with the calling interval for said channel.
All forestry workers and road users with a mobile radio will be required to connect to the appropriate resource-road channel, and indicate their direction of travel and vehicle type.
Road users are reminded that forest service roads are radio assisted, not radio controlled, and you should drive according to road and weather conditions.
