The province has announced more funding to expand the Cariboo Highway.
Officials say the final part of phase two is out for tender and expected to begin later in the spring.
This will see Highway 97 expanded to four lanes through Williams Lake.
Mayor Walt Cobb say it will improve the safety at a number of intersections.
Mayor Cobb says the city is also chipping in $2-million to help improve the local streets and provide safe options for pedestrians.
On top of phase two heading into its last stage, the province says they will be starting to come up with designs for phase three that will see the highway get four lanes south of Williams Lake.
The development of phase three of the Cariboo Connector is worth $200-million and aims to improve the safety of Highway 97 from Cache Creek to Prince George.
