An inquest into the 2016 death of a Gitxsan man in RCMP custody has been scheduled for this September.
The BC Coroners Service says 51 year-old Jamie Wilford Shanoss was picked up by police in downtown Prince George November 21, 2016 and taken to their cells.
Shortly after 2 a.m., police noticed Shanoss was unresponsive and called 9-1-1, but he could not be revived.
Presiding Coroner Donita Kuzma and a jury will hear evidence to determine the facts surrounding his death and the jury can make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is scheduled to begin September 17, 2018 at the Prince George court house.
