The inquest looking into the death of a 25-year-old Terrace woman has heard that she died of massive organ failure.
Forensic pathologist Matthew Orde testified that Alyssa George , also known as Alyssa Oleksiuk, suffered from massive organ failure which was the ultimate cause of death. What Orde couldn’t determine was what caused her organs to fail.
Orde said that drug or alcohol toxicity or withdrawal were likely contributing factors, but given the evidence at hand, he can only speculate.
George went into medical distress after she was arrested by Terrace RCMP in September, 2013. She was transfered to hospital in Vancouver where she later died.
Later today the inquest will hear from Alyssa’s family doctor as well as a medical consultant.
Inspector Dana Hart, commander of the Terrace RCMP detachment is also scheduled to testify.
