An inquest into the death of a 25 year-old Terrace woman two years ago begins Monday.
Alyssa Josephine Talina George, also known as Alyssa Oleksiuk, died after going into medical distress while in Terrace RCMP custody..
The BC Coroners Service says officers found George in a holding cell suffering medical distress September 4th, 2013, approximately 14 hours after she was arrested.
She was flown to Vancouver General Hospital for more intensive treatment, but died there September 10th.
Presiding Coroner Donita Kuzma and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses to sort out the facts surrounding George’s death.
The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
The inquest is scheduled for the Terrace Courthouse.
