Protesters gathered in Prince Rupert to speak out against changes to federal maritime polices.
Members of International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada says the changes could put a lot of people out of work.
Local 523 President Regan Fletcher says changes outlined in the Emerson Report would seem more privatization and less opportunities for Canadian workers.
He says risking these kinds of jobs in Prince Rupert is a major risk for the community.
Fletcher says it’s believed more recommendations and decisions on a number of items are set to come out early this year.
