Growth on the Island Lake Wildfire has forced the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako to expand its evacuation order.
The expansion now includes two islands at the east end of Francois Lake.
The order covers the Binto Wo Forest Service Road (FSR) to 400 metres east of Nithi Road, Nithi Pit Road and a portion of Holy Cross Binta FSR. South of Francois Lake to above the Binta Main FSR including Francois Lake Provincial Park. It also includes two islands located on the east end of Francois Lake, Lots 2714 and 2713.
The BC Wildfire Service says the wildfire, which took a 15 km run two days ago, is now estimated at 7000 hectares and is only 10 percent contained.
Crews are working on a guard on the Dahlgren Road and along the 200 Road along the south flank of the fire. They are also constructing a guard along the western end of the fire.
