The Canadian Fishing Company will be restructuring its main plant in Prince Rupert.
The cuts are due to a combination of factors, says Rob Morley, Vice-President of Production and Corporate Development.
He says it’s still too early to tell how many jobs will be affected.
But Morley says there will be cuts in permanent operations and maintenance jobs, as well as in seasonal positions.
The plant will stay open, but instead of canned fish, it’ll be producing fresh fish products that will be trucked out.
The United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union – Unifor says they’ll be holding a news conference tomorrow at 1pm in Prince Rupert to address the restructuring.
