Kitasoo Community School goes green

Kitasoo Community School goes green

A Central Coast First Nation has partnered with a green energy firm to help reduce the community’s reliance on diesel.

The initiative between Bullfrog Power and the Kitasoo/Xai’Xais First Nation features a 23 kilowatt solar energy installation on the roof of the Kitasoo Community School in Klemtu.

Chief Doug Neasloss says the solar project is an important milestone in the nation’s goal of achieving energy independence through a focus on sustainable forms of electricity generation.

The project received major contributions by a coalition of of partners, including Tides Canada Initiatives Society, Vancouver Foundation, Great Bear Initiative, and Emerging Leaders for Solar Energy.
