The Northwest Fire Centre says a fire burning in the Kitimat area is now estimated at 15 hectares.
The fire started in a forestry cutblock about 14 kilometres southwest of Kitimat and was initially pegged at 5 hectares Wednesday.
Fire Information Officer Haley Williams says the wildfire burned through the harvested area and into part of the surrounding timber.
A unit crew and initial attack crew are still on scene, but Williams says no helicopter is required today.
The BC Wildfire Service believes lightning from a storm that went through the area recently is to blame for the wildfire.
