Kitimat is home to a new centre providing early learning, health, and family services in BC.
The province says the BC Early Years Centre, which is hosted by the Kitimat Child Development Centre Association, will help support families with children aged 0-6.
Programs and supports include:
• Speech language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
• Infant development programs.
• Pre-natal education.
• Family support services.
• Pre-school and child-care services.
• Mental health support.
• Housing support services.
In a government news release, Kitimat Child Development Centre Executive Director Margaret Warcup says Kitimat is pleased to incorporate more of the BC Early Years approach. “Through our new centre we look forward to working together to ensure early years services, including day care, parenting support, and support services are more readily available for all children and their families in the region,” says Warcup.
The Kitimat BC Early Years Centre is one of 14 new locations opening across the province, bringing the total to 26.
