A plan to build an LNG facility in Kitimat took a large step forward yesterday.
Joint venture company LNG Canada announced yesterday that they have awarded two companies with a contract to design and construct the proposed plant.
US-based Fluor Corporation and Japanese-based JGC were granted the contracts with the caveat that further investments be made by project partners Shell Canada, Mitsubishi, Kogas, and Petro China.
Should the project move forward, construction is expected to take 5 years and bring thousands of jobs to the area.
