Approximately three hundred people packed into Kitimat’s Riverlodge on Saturday to listen and interact with keynote speakers and guests surrounding Kitimat’s LNG project.
the townhall meeting brought Pro, Anti and generally unsure LNG personas listening to key issues facing the region.
Pro LNG SupporterDavid Johnson took the initiative to approach MLA Ellis Ross with his idea for the information session. He says though the job was big he felt it was important that credible information from the speakers be relayed to the people of Kitimat. Johnson says it would be a positive project.
Many of the pro LNG supporters mentioned the economy in Kitimat will boom if the project goes ahead.
Offering more services, jobs and housing but BC Green party leader Andrew Weaver placed cause for concern in terms of the province racing through emission targets if the massive project is pursued.
Johnson expressed this is why these meetings are important to hopefully bring together miscommunications between project supports and those who aren’t in favour.
LNG plans to hold an Open House end of February in Kitimat.
