Kitimat Mounties are going back to school to help teach bad drivers a lesson.
The RCMP says there’s been a rise in complaints from school bus drivers about motorists failing to yield to stopped school buses.
Kitimat RCMP officers are working with bus drivers to ticket motorists who don’t stop for the vehicles, including occasionally having police ride along with buses to witness infractions.
The detachment says the first day of patrols didn’t result in any tickets. Enforcement will continue until the end of the school year.
The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $167.
