The District of Kitimat and its unionized municipal workers have reached a new labour deal.
The ratified collective agreement between Unifor Local 2300 and the District provides wage increases of 3% this year, 2.5% in 2019, and 2.5% in 2020.
“We are pleased a deal has been reached and would like to commend both negotiation teams on their dedication to arriving at an agreement that is amenable for both parties” said Mayor Phil Germuth.
“Our members take pride in the services we provide to the community, as a result from this deal Unifor 2300 is looking forward to another three years of stability with the highest standards of municipal operations, as set out in our Collective Agreement Objective” said Unifor 2300 President Jonathan Aiken.
The three-year deal is retroactive to January 1, 2018 and expires December 31, 2020.
