After a strike that lasted over 100 days, municipal workers in the District of Kitimat will be heading back to work as early as tomorrow.
Kitimat council has voted to ratify a 3-year collective agreement with Unifor Local 2300 retroactive to January 1, 2015.
The district says the deal provides for benefit increases along with salary hikes of 2.5% this year, 2.5% in 2016, and 3% in 2017.
Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth says council is pleased that the strike is over and things are returning to normal.
Germuth acknowledges that the strike was long and difficult for all, but has pledged that council and district administration are committed to building a positive relationship with district employees.
Details about the re-opening of recreation facilities are expected in the coming days.
