The Kitselas First Nation has signed a number of agreements with the province linked to LNG developments in the northwest.
A press release from the province says the agreements will see the Terrace-area First Nation receive funding that will go to local social and economic development.
The Kitselas signed an LNG Benefits Agreement, as well as the Coastal Fund Benefits Agreement.
Those agreements will see one-time payments made to the Kitselas, as well as on-going payments based on LNG final investment decisions and production numbers.
The LNG agreement also includes land transfers to the Kitselas from parcels near the Northwest Regional Airport, Dubose Flats, and Thornhill.
Both agreements include provisions the Kitselas won’t support any actions that delay, hinder or impede LNG projects or related infrastructure development.
