What are your rights when it comes to interactions with the police?
Three organizations will be touring the northern BC next month to offer workshops on that topic as well as their roles in the province.
The Independent Investigations Office, the Civilian Review And Complaints Commission for the RCMP, and the BC Civil Liberties Association will make stops in Terrace, Smithers, and Prince George.
The free seminars will provide information about the mandates and responsibilities of each group and how they deliver their services with a focus on rights that apply during police interactions.
The workshops are geared toward Indigenous people, community leaders and northern BC service providers.
The first event is scheduled for Terrace February 5th, followed by Smithers February 6th, and Prince George February 8th.
