Steps toward reconciliation are being made for the Lake Babine Nation with today’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Both the Government of Canada and the British Columbian Government joined in on the agreement, which paves the way towards long-term reconciliation.
With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the three will work together on a 25 year plan with the goal of progressively implementing the Nation’s rights to lands, self government, community well-being, and regional economic growth.
Natural resources, forestry, governance, education, and language are all key negotiating points under the agreement.
